Fools for Gold

Chase wanted to go gold panning so we took him to Country Boy Mine and he had a great time. It was very easy to get a little jar of fools gold collected.

Ouch!

I took Chase trail biking and the poor kid wiped out!!!  But he got back on his bike and rode home like a troop. Go Chase!

Who sleeps like this?!

Speedo's hilarious sleeping positions....

Superhero Wall Quilt

I finally finished Chase's embroidered superhero wall quilt. We used one of those cool Ikea curtain lines to hang it.  I wasn't all that thrilled with my quilting or binding techniques but overall I am happy with the finished piece.

Summer Drinks

I am a beer hater...but tonight I was introduced to a shandy = 1/2 beer and 1/2 lemonade. It was delicious!  The perfect summer drink...

Ride On Kiddo

Chase upgraded to a 20 incher...so of course he also had to have full fingered gloves like pops and daddy and a big boy helmet. He is so excited about his new Hot Rock.

Blueberry French Toast

I made overnight blueberry french toast this morning for my sewing group. It was very good even without the blueberry syrup.

25 Miles Done and Done

J and I rocked a 25 mile 2.5 hr bike ride today!  I was exhausted and barely finished (I am blaming the 90+ degree heat) but I am proud.

Stuffed Caprese Bites

OMG I can't wait to try these!  They look amazing and oh so easy!

Caprese Bites Ingredients
1 can pizza dough, equivalent to 1 large pizza
4 oz. mozzarella, shredded or cut into small squares as wide as your tomatoes
20-24 cherry or grape tomatoes2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves, torn into bite-sized pieces
1 Tbsp. dried oregano

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a pie plate with cooking spray.
If using canned pizza dough, use a pizza slicer to cut dough into 24 equal squares. If using homemade pizza dough, break off dough into about 24 walnut-sized pieces and then stretch each to become a 3-inch or so circle.
Make each of the bites by slicing a tomato in two lengthwise, and then sandwiching a piece of cheese and a torn piece of basil between the tomato halves. Then gently place the little tomato sandwich in the center of the pizza dough, and wrap the dough around it to make a ball. Pinch the ends together so that they are secure, then place each ball seam-side-down in the greased pie pan. Repeat with remaining ingredients until the pan is full. Brush the tops of the little dough balls with melted butter, then sprinkle with the dried oregano.
Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the tops are slightly golden. Remove and serve immediately.

T-Shirt Magic

Capricious told me about this great tutorial for turning a T-Shirt into a tank!  It literally takes 15 - 20 minutes and the results are soooo cute (I ended up using plain cotton fabric for the strap instead of a piece of the shirt).  I want to get some plain white shirts and use some funky patterned fabric for the straps and do a bow over one shoulder.  So fun!

It turns old plain shirts into something new.

Speedo

I am guessing you are thinking that this post is going to be about this...
Really it is about this....

Meet our new family member Speedo (Chase named him)!

He is sooooo adorable! I never pictured myself as a reptile person but now I am a proud bearded dragon owner. He is fascinating to watch.

He is quite the little cricket hunter and he climbs and runs all over! Very active. Welcome home Speedo!

Jammies!

I finally finished the Jammie shorts that Capricious and I started ages ago. They are really comfy and they made me fall in love with my serger all over again. Shorts are a great beginner project btw.

Bearded Dragon? Go or no go?

Chase has been asking about a pet lizard so we looked at bearded dragons. They are soooo cute as babies and if they stayed that small we would probably already have one but as you can see they get A LOT bigger. Hmmmmmm......

The Butterfly Cabinet

I just finished The Butterfly Cabinet. It isn't the type of book I typically read but it was short and interesting. It would be a very good book club book because it would raise plenty of good discussions.
