I attended a wedding today, the wedding itself was very nice, but it reminded me of something that has been bugging me for awhile. I've noticed that during the vows husbands are always asked to love and cherish their wives while wives are asked to respect and obey their husbands.
Why are we the ones who have to respect and obey?! Isn't it about time that we updated wedding vows to be a bit more equitable?
The other somewhat negative thought that popped into my head during the wedding is that I realized the time in my life filled with celebrations is pretty much over. I've had my graduations, wedding, and baby shower. There are no more big events for me to celebrate... all of the future big life events that I will be celebrating will be my children's. Can it really be that by the age of 26 I have nothing left in my own life to celebrate? Maybe I will have to make reasons...
