Baby Dress

I made this dress at my sewing day with Capricious last weekend and for some reason I am not sure I love it. I love the fabric and the colors but I can't decide if the dress itself is cute or too handmade looking. I may need to see it on to decide - some things are cuter on...

The pictures are too small for me to see the detail, but I'm wondering if you use a lightweight yarn. Maybe a Debbie Bliss yarn? I think it would look better maybe as just a knitted dress without tacking on the skirt. Knitting doesn't look well with fabric in my opinion. I once thought about doing a mixed media quilt that used knitted/crocheted squares with fabric squares, and I think I would have the same problem. I daydream up a lot of projects I rarely take on.
